    Been Awhile

    Sunday, September 9, 2007, 12:54 PM [General]

It has been awhile since I have updated this site. Well its past due and time to give it a shot. In my previous entry I had my arsenal laid out, that no longer exists. Those were all 14lb balls, I now throw 15. I had a well rounded Brunswick arsenal, I then however put those balls back on the shelf and took the summer off and I am getting back into the game.

I have decided for my own good (and my education) to stop practicing on sport shots and regional patterns and instead just work with house shot leagues and help out with coaching the youths. I still volunteer at the pro shop every now and again however it is no longer a financial income to me, but instead a hobby. I think I will enjoy it more as a hobby instead of a full time job.

     Updated League/House shot Arsenal

Brunswick X-Zone: Oldie but still a good ball. Drilled this up awhile back and decided to keep it around. Rolls very well, however as it gets older its hitting power is beginning to suffer. If the back ends are smoked and everything comes up early this is the ball I find myself using.

Storm Spit Fire: My favorite storm ball, the most versatile and solid hitting ball that storm has and I love it. If I am really struggling and need to open up the lanes, this is the ball to do it with.

Hammer Cherry Vibe: Newest edition to my line up and at first I was disappointed. It was very spotty and hard to control. I then discovered however it was not the ball, its was me. I then turned around a shot 212, 224, 187, 257 and I returned my faith to the ball. Solid!

    The All Star Line Up

Just a run down of my equipment for me to look over and see what I could need in the future.

Storm Jolt Pearl - 2000 Polished Used on light oil House Shots along with Pattern 2 after transition.

Brunswick Power Groove - 2000 Polished A bit more aggressive then the Jolt Pearl. If the house shot is a bit slick, I will bring this out of the bag for a more aggressive angle. Never used on Regional Patterns.

Track Inertia  - 1000 Sanded First ball out of the bag usually for Pattern 2 & 3, POSSIBLY Pattern One. 1000 Sanded gives me more friction and the ability to burn a line quicker. However after it begins to dry, becomes a bit too much for the shorter of the Patterns, such as 2.

Columbia 300 Action Max - 4000 Polished With such a high grade combined with polish makes this ball go long with a hard snap. I have not given this ball much play on Regional Patterns, seems to be too angular for Pattern 5, however I have yet to try out Pattern 4, where I feel this piece might have some success.

Ebonite Infinite One - 1000 Sanded Aggressive and lot of friction. Number one out of the bag on Pattern 5. With a low grade and no polish it helps burn a line quickly which helps me as a low rev bowler. With no polish the snap is taken out, and replaced with a smooth arc which is key to Pattern 5.

Storm Special Agent - 2000 Polished One of my favorite pieces of equipment. The Special Agent has proved to be very versatile and can be used on almost any of the patterns. However on shorter patterns such as 2 and 3 many times it will be too much. After a line is burned with the Infinite One and I see it begin to burn up, which piece is next up to bat.

Storm Soccer Ball - 4000 Polished Only the COOLEST looking spare ball out on market!
